That's right, we are only interested in listing the best online resources. The good news is that your website does not have to have lots of traffic to qualify as one of the top sites on the Internet. But it does have to be a high quality website.
If you pay attention to our rules and guidelines below, you should have no problem joining our elite band of members as one of the top sites online. Membership even comes with perks such as a detailed listing page with their site stats which can also showcase your logo/banner to the public in worldwide web distribution.
Websites and online resources must conform to all of the following rules in order to be considered for membership in our top sites catalog at Top Sites Cat™:
- Must be in the English language or provide an English translation version.
- Must be G-Rated, kid safe, non-offensive and viewable by everyone of all ages.
- No slow loading websites or resources. Sites which are painfully slow to load and/or use are not even considered for membership in our top sites catalog. If you need fast/reliable website hosting, we recommend Domain Hostmaster or HD Web Hosting as fast, reliable and affordable business web hosting solutions for any budget.
- No confusing navigation. Websites with Google text link ads (or any other such menu looking text link ads) that can be easily mistaken as a menu or navigation bar will be deleted.
- No "Made For PPC Advertising" (MFA) websites. Parked domains and ad centric mini-sites are deleted.
- No spam sites. Any site with more than 3 ad network advertisements per page are deleted with extreme prejudice. Google AdSense, Yahoo Publisher, AdBrite and BidVertiser are examples of such PPC (aka: Pay-Per-Click, CPC or Cost-Per-Click) ad networks.
- No single page sales sites.
- No poorly designed sites.
- No spammy sites or blogs. No chaotic or flashing graphics, no annoying animations, and absolutely no pop-up ad sites (even if they pop-under or pop-on-exit).
- Any website will be denied if it is illegal, porn, adult, sexually oriented, chat, sex dating, dirty jokes, dirty cartoons, pharmacies/drugs/herbal, credit card, debt recovery, student loans, proxy, warez, hate, suicide, paid-to-surf, betting, poker, gambling, or any site we find offensive.
- Our ranking badge code calculates your website activity. Websites, blogs, forums and directories which are inactive for more than a week are deleted automatically by the system, so make sure that your intended web page does display our ranking badge code and that it will get at least one visit per week. Our ranking badge does not have to reside on your homepage. However, if it isn't displayed much, your rank will suffer. The ranking code is most effective when displayed on every page of your site. If you hide it too well, you risk being deleted due to inactivity after a week or so.

Of course, when its on your site (by using the code provided to put it wherever you want it), it will be filled in with stats. If you don't like it or don't want it on your site, there's no point in Joining up as a member.
- All commercial websites, or any site which solicits money, including asking for donations, must provide accurate contact information, to include:
- Email Contact: A working email address or contact form.
- Physical Address: An actual physical street address or mailing address, with the one exception provided solely for web concentric online businesses such as directories and top lists.
- Telephone Number: At least one working telephone contact number, with the one exception provided solely for web concentric online businesses such as directories and top lists.
- Availablity: Businesses should list their hours of operation, with the one exception provided solely for web concentric online businesses such as directories and top lists.
- An About Us page and a Privacy Policy page are also highly recommended. E-Commerce websites may be deleted if either of these are unavailable at the administrator's discretion.
- Web hosting sites must provide details on their website detailing their NOC (Network Operations Center) which specifically addresses its area/location(s), server configuration(s) and Internet connectivity.
- Any commercial website, or any site which solicits money, including asking for donations, must also display a graphic business logo. There are no exceptions, if you are making money, you can invest (money or time) into creating at least a simple corporate identity, even if you are a freelancer. Otherwise, visitors would see your web resource as a possible scam and our link to your website associates us with your poor business design and plan. Obviously, we won't stand for that. - Use the proper name of your business or online resource in your listing title. Keyword spammed titles may well be deleted.
- Use correct spelling and proper grammar. Entries may also be deleted for improper use of ALL CAPS or excessive use of exclamation marks!!!
- Write in the third person. "Us" and "We" refers to us at Top Sites Cat™, so refer to yourself as "they" or by using a proper name, or by nick name, which will allow for extra branding opportunities for your business/website.
- Write an objective listing. Listings claiming to be the "best", "cheapest" or "coolest" are subjective to an opinion. Write general facts about your online resource, not abstract ideas or opinionated reviews that others may not share.
- No specifics such as prices, specials, offers, dates or speeds are allowed anywhere in any listing. Although our listings are user editable, we know that you may not get back to your update listing every time you update or improve your website.
- No cheating. Any webmaster employing scripts, cloaking or systems intended to "fool" our system count are conducting fraud and will be deleted and then banned. No exceptions.
- No whining if your link/listing is deleted.
Top Sites Cat™ maintains complete control over the content of the listings. Editing an editor corrected listing may jeopardize your membership standing & listing. Usually administrative edits correct keyword spam titles with proper website names, spelling errors anywhere in a listing (unless related to a brand), or deleting prices and dates specified in the description. Do not reintroduce elements of a listing which have been deleted or otherwise corrected by an admin.
To some, these rules may seem picky, strict or over the top. Unfortunately, they are all necessary. We have to protect our kids who use our services, as well as the web hosting account by filtering out the garbage. Anything less would put both in jeapordy because we have to follow the rules, too.

Members may receive website Top Sites Cat™ news or information about Top Sites Cat™ site updates that may be related to or effect their listing, however their email address and personal information is never given, shared, rented or sold to any third parties outside the Top Sites Cat™ administration network.
Furthermore, please note that Top Sites Cat™ and the Top Sites Cat™ administration will never spam anyone (member or not), as we consider any and all Unsolicited Email as a crime against small business and an act of idiocy against humanity. We hope you agree. Spammers sending email to us will be banned and further legal recourse may follow.
