Multiple Domain Scripting Support
5-23-2009
We at Top Sites Cat™ have protected our brand name and branding efforts by securing multiple domain names. Therefore, although the script runs whether you use TopSitesCatalog.com, TopSitesCat.com, TopSiteCatalog.com or TopSiteCat.com, members are required to log into TopSitesCatalog.com.
This won't appear to be a problem for most users until they actually log into their account. If they are not logging into the correct domain name when they hit the User Control Panel menu link, they will be thrown out of the log-in. However, they will then be on the correct domain and will be able to log in effortlessly.
We are currently reviewing whether or not this is a real issue, but will address it if it becomes a problem. Let us know if it is a problem for you.
Amended 6-4-2009
If you have multiple domains, where you have your brand name domain and also are protecting your website with variants of that brand (i.e.: you own the domains "company.com", "thecompany.com", "theco.com" "company.us", "company.net", "company.info", "company.biz", "company.org" & "company.name") or promote a generic keyword targeted domain in addition to your company or brand name domain to increase your search engine exposure and rank (i.e.: you also compliment your brand and/or company name with keyword domain names such as "whatwedo.com", "what-we-do.com", "whatwesell.com", "what-we-sell.com"), our ranking code will work no matter which site domain or sub-domain is hosting it.
This means that our ranking script should work no matter which domain you decide to promote now, or in the future. It has been tested to work with multiple domains as well as with different sub-domains to allow for one unique hit per day, per user account.
This way, hits from one unique client to the same site under different names will result in the count of a single hit, which helps deter cheating.
But no matter which domain you a user uses to arrive at your site, they should increase your hit count for the day, which promotes fair play no matter how many domains or sub-domains you use for your online business presence, website, directory or blog.
New Top Sites Cat™ Website News Page
5-22-2009
As of now, we have a news page. Top Sites Cat offers a new Site News page.
Here, we will now announce website news such as changes in our policy (i.e.: We are now listing 20 websites per page according to ranking instead of 50 as previously), membership/website listing requirements and rules.
Maximum Ad Blocks Allowable Increased
5-20-2009
We have now increased our maximum ad blocks allowable for Google AdSense, Yahoo Publisher, AdBrite and other PPC and/or banner ad networks to three, total. Four ads on a page is just too much for us to handle. Anyone should be able to monetize any website with no more than three network ads per page (along with your own advertising).
However, we will still refuse any website that uses a simple text links block that can easily be confused with the navigation menu of a website.
We also continue to refuse membership to websites that are not well designed, as usual.
Our Badge Must be Visible on Your Website Before We will Approve your Membership & Listing
5-12-2009
After joining our network, you must use the code provided on a page of your website after submitting your information to us. This code allows us to easily determine your rank within the Top Sites Catalog. We do not (nor will we) look on each and every page of your website for our image badge. We will now only look on the home page and the home page listed (unorphaned) links page for our badge.
If our badge is merely listed on a links page, that links page must be linked from the home page, branded like the rest of your website, and have some actual traffic. If our system does not see the code for that image after a period of 7 days or so, it automatically deletes your listing as an inactive website.
Thank You All, For Your Continued Support!
